Enjoyment for both horse and trainer, and most especially for the horse, it's the hallmark of authentic horse training. This can only be had in the use of the only language the horse can understand-the horse’s very own language—the language of horse training principles.
Most educational horse training material places a strong emphasis upon methods. A method will only
be as effective as the degree of principles used in its implementation. Principles are the reason a
particular method can work.. In the use of principles, wonder and magic can occur in horse training
sessions. The principles are universal and can be applied to all horse training endeavors—on the ground, driving, and under-saddle. Amateurs and professionals alike have an essential need for their mastery.

Over one hundred photographs accompany the text. These are not the ordinary "stand still; look pretty"pictures of horses. They are vibrant and alive, clearly illustrating the photographer's passion for the horse.
This sequel to Winnie Stott's book, "Bit by Bit - Classical Horsemanship with Frank Grelo", highlights a young stallion's journey in classical dressage
Reader's comments:

Dear Winnie,
I WAS UP ALL NIGHT reading your two informative, engaging
and highly entertaining books. They're wonderful!!! (This means that
tonight I am pretty pooped.) With every page, I would make a bargain that it would be the last; but it never worked. On & on I read. Your refreshing, candid observations truly engaged me. I felt every weight aid, every moment of self-doubt. How blessed we are that Frank has trained his horses so that they can indeed give us a true mirror of what we are and what we need to be. Thank you for your terrific efforts in the beautiful production of these books that may help bring Frank to the attention of sincere seekers of harmony. Best wishes and hope to see you again.

Classical Horsemanship
With Frank Grelo
VIDEO
Working in Hand has been an important
aspect of Classical Horsemanship for
many centuries.
In this video, Riding Master Frank Grelo
introduces techniques for working

in-hand. Bit by Bit - Volume 1, Working
In-Hand

You may ask yourself…..Is this video for
me? Read on:

Have you ever given a cue to your horse

and he doesn’t respond correctly?
Have you ever wished you had a more
harmonious relationship with your horse?
Have you ever ridden your horse

and everything goes awry?
Does your horse “Whoa” and “Go” when

you ask?
Does your horse turn a leg yield into an easy walk?

All these types of problems are shared by all levels of equestrian riders.
How do you correct the problems without causing more complications?

Working In-Hand prepares you to deal with the every day common problems that you face with your horse. It takes you step by step through working with young colts to working with older more mature horses.

Everything you do on your horse's back, you do from the ground, without the confusion of a rider on his back. This video and booklet breaks down these steps and SHOWS YOU HOW.

You can start with your horse at any time, regardless of his level of training.

Reviews:
The video, "Bit by Bit, Working In-Hand, Classical Horsemanship with
Frank Grelo" from
"Horse Sport" March 2004

The video, Bit by Bit, Frank Grelo demonstrates his methods of in-hand
work. He covers fundamentals such as teaching a horse to "go and whoa" and to
accept a saddle and rider for the first time, as well as advanced movements such as the

shoulder-in, half-pass and piaffe, all beginning with in-hand work. Advice and tips for
the handler, on body language and use of aids, is also included.

From a presentation stand point, the video is very clear and easy to
follow. Rather than having Grelo explain as he works, a narrator comments on
his methods and the theories behind them, providing useful tips throughout.
In addition, Grelo demonstrates his techniques using a variety of horses
of differing ages and breeds to show that you don't need a highly bred
Lusitano stallion to get results.

A comment about "Bit by Bit"
from a Canadian Grand Prix Dressage Champion:
"I received your book a few weeks ago and have been thoroughly enjoying every chance I got to read it in the meantime. I just finished it last night. Like your last book, it was delightful - a unique and fun way to learn about Frank and what he has to share. I give you an immense amount of credit for being able to make what would normally have been yet another dry, uninsightful horse book become a great read for anyone - whether into horses or not.
Thank you VERY much for sharing it with me!!!!"

Review
From "Horse Sport" March 2004 The book, "Bit by Bit, Classical
Horsemanship with Frank Grelo"

Internationally known horseman, Frank Grelo, who was born in Portugal, immigrated to Canada in 1971 and established Cedar Mills Farms and Equestrian Centre in Bolton, Ontario, where he trains horses to the highest levels of dressage and classical riding. It was one of his demonstrations that author Winnie Stott was first introduced to and became fascinated by this modern riding master and his methods.

After just one meeting, Stott was determined to learn more and booked a private lesson with Grelo the following day. In her book, Stott described this lesson and others to follow with great enthusiasm and detail. Stott recounts her lessons including those on long-reining, working in-hand and free longeing among others, all of which are peppered with thoughts and insights from Grelo as well as her own. In addition, several other Grelo students have contributed their experiences to the book.
